Promasidor Nigeria receives ISO/SON certification
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has conferred Promasidor Nigeria with the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) Food Safety Management System certification.
The certification was conferred on the company at its Lagos office after a verification exercise carried out by the regulatory agency. The Food Safety Management Systems certification is in accordance with the principles of Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP).
Explaining the processes involved, Coordinator, Research and Development Promasidor Nigeria, Mr Noah Adewunmi said the company has been processing the certification for some time.
He said: “Our Company went through several processes in the verification exercise. Firstly we had to make sure the working environment is conducive and ensure the safety of the food. This certification has been in the works for one year now. During this period, I can say we enjoyed the commitment of the management. Initially there were doubts, but later on, we were able to clear these doubts and everyone became supportive since they all knew the benefit of the certification.”
Noah added that the conferment of the Food Safety Management System Certification on Promasidor Nigeria Limited is a confirmation that the company adheres to every safety and quality rule in its production process.
Lead Consultant, Qualitext Consulting and Associates Ltd, Mr. Tunji Timothy who handled the processes said the certification would result in several benefits for the company including brand protection, improved teamwork, dedication and commitment to food safety, operational cost effectiveness, helps limit product liability, and a systematic approach to food safety amongst others.
